Yasmine,who writesall of this.
Yasmine started SOUL after fifteen years of buying the wrong things beautifully. She writes the fit notes, does the wear-testing, and is the reason nothing is recommended here until it has survived at least six weeks of ordinary life.
Why this site exists.
I spent most of my twenties being sold insecurity by people who were very good at it. Beautiful photography, a tone of gentle concern, and a link at the bottom. It took me an embarrassingly long time to notice that almost every piece of beauty writing I read was built to make me feel slightly worse before it made me feel better.
SOUL is the correction. Everything on this site was bought with my own money at full price — no gifted product, no press samples, no brand seeing a page before you do. I wear things for at least six weeks before writing about them, because a fortnight tells you almost nothing about a coat and even less about a manicure.
I am not a dermatologist and I will never pretend to be one. What I have is fifteen years of buying carefully, a stubborn refusal to be impressed by packaging, and a habit of checking the shoulder seam before the price tag. When something disappoints me I say so, and when I get something wrong I correct it in public with the date on it.
